Thank you, Gnabana. You made an interesting point. If the chief had listened, perhaps the indigenous people wouldn't have to lose their land, language, customs and have better lives.

This story confirms the devastation that these men believed themselves superior did an island . It is clear that in the case of Hispaniola is one of the richest countries in gold and spices in the discovery , we became one of the poorest . They not only robbed us of our material wealth, but also completely changed our culture. The child in the story represents a frightened and outraged humanity by men who believed themselves gods ended with a tribe to which they tricked their innocence.

I learned from the story how the desire of men can become a devastation, many people are looking get rich so they can more power and it doesn't matter who suffers the consequence. The boy fears was that the newcomers can cause danger the way of life they were living. The chief didn't pay attentions what the boy was saying because they never had an experience like that before, they though they came from the sky they were excited with the things they saw for first time. I feel so sad because they were humans and they treated as animals, just to get what they desired, richness and power.
